I wish everyone a healthy, happy New Year. I hope you had a great Christmas holiday. Thank you for sending in all the teddy bears. The nurses came to pick them up for us. Thank you for all the Christmas presents.

Scientist of the Week

Andre was our scientist. He did a great job showing the children how a plant gets water through the stem.

Here are some of our Christmas pictures.

These are a few pictures of the class working hard at Centers.

We also visited our Reading Buddies before break.

Before Christmas Room 9 performed in the Cherub Concert.

We listened to Christmas songs and talked about their meanings.

See you next week.

The Week of December 8, 2008

We are working hard while still trying to enjoy the Advent and Holiday season.

Reading- Our new story is "Greg's Mask." This will give us some practice with writing the apostrophe to show posession. We continue to practice the blend sounds.

Make sure your child is blending the letters as he/she reads. Just remind them "to get on the slide", he/she will know what you are talking about.

Spelling test on Short O words on Wednesday.

Math- We continue to work on reading and making graphs.

We are almost done with the Handwriting book, we should finish by Christmas. I will be getting very picky on all writing from now on.

We will attend Mass on Monday to celebrate the "Feast of the Immaculate Conception". Our chapter this week will be on the gift of the Eucharist. Plan a special family meal sometime this week.

Science- We continue to study the weather. This week we will learn about the seasons.

Social Studies- Our unit this week is learning about the Earth.

Have a great week. Take time to enjoy this special season.

Scientist of the Week

Here is Maeve showing us how to make a soy sauce packet float.

We had fun learning about the pilgrims. The children dressed up as pilgrims and wrote "Postcards From Plymouth." I will share these with you at the conference. The children did a great job.

We are continuing our study of weather. We made cloud foldables. Ask your child about cumulus, stratus and cirrus clouds.

The Grandparents Mass was wonderful. It was so nice to see so many Grandparents in church. The children were so excited to give each Grandparent the grand tour of our room.

Thanks for sending in the spice drops. We will do the project in the second week of December.

Thank you to the Mulvaney family for joining me at Children's Liturgy Worship on Sunday. I think Christian and Aidan had a great time with the children of St. Tars.

Have a wonderful week.
