Creating Charts and Graphs

Using spreadsheet software our first grade students created a chart tracking their lost teeth. They also created a counting chart to 100 in honor of the 100th Day of School! Notice that they used this chart also to count by 2's and 5's.

Third graders were busy creating Multiplication Charts.

Speakers Anyone?

We are looking for old computer speakers. Your old computer may have given up the ghost but the speakers are still usable. We would like to use them with our new Epson Projectors in classrooms.

If you would be able to donate some speakers to school, call the school office, 773-631-2256 and leave a message with the secretary.

Thanks!

Second Grade Shark Sleuths

The second grade students have written reports on sharks. Each student selected one type of shark to investigate using the Enchanted Learning web site. Then they created multimedia reports using Kid Pix Studio Deluxe. They created the slides using the drawing and typing tools, recorded their voices, and assembled the slides, complete with transitions, into their Shark Show. Here is a sample of some of the slides. To see the shark shows visit the computer lab on Open House, January 27th from 1:00 - 3:00.

Web Site for Parents

http://www.theparentsedge.com/index.html
The Parents' Edge web site has some very interesting safety tips for parents. Here is one suggestion from that web site, "Do NOT let your child have a computer in their bedroom. Place your computer in an open room with the monitor facing out. This allows you to quickly see what is occurring on the internet."
