Mothers' Club
The Saint Juliana Mothers' Club is open to all
women of our parish. Come join us every other month on the
last Thursday evening for food and beverages, raffles, informative
speakers
and more! To be a member in good standing and receive the
benefits provided,
one
must
have paid annual dues ($20) by December 31st of the current
school year. We always welcome new faces and new ideas,
so attend a meeting or volunteer to plan one! It's a great
way to participate in your child's education and meet other
women in the parish.
Our Goals
- Assist the school in social and educational
projects that help defray the cost of tuition. The activities
and fund-raisers the Mothers' Club sponsors are listed
below:
- Welcome Coffee
- This event is hosted for all new and returning moms... kids too! Our
new moms are encouraged to meet some of the other moms
in your grade and school. It's also a great way to found out "the ropes" from
existing moms on how things work. For returning moms, please join in
and get
reacquainted with old friends that you haven't seen during
the summer, and make some new ones. Coffee, juice, bagels and coffee
cakes are provided,
along with coloring for the kids while you socialize
- Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
- The officers host this event for our teachers twice each year, during
the Parent/Teacher Conferences and the May Faculty In-Service
day. Food always makes our teachers happy and it makes
their day a little less hectic. Sandwiches are catered
in and the members dazzle the teachers with homemade
salads and desserts.
- Teachers' Wish List
- Each teacher is provided with a monetary gift for use on the school
supplies of their choice.
- Hot Lunch/Dessert Days
- Throughout the year, hot lunch and desserts are brought/made for the
kids as an alternative to their bag lunch. Volunteers
are needed to help distribute these items to the children.
- School Supply Kits
- As a time and money saver, we uitilize a company that provides each
child's school supplies, as defined by the teachers.
Place your orders in the spring for the upcoming school
year, pick them up in August and off to school they go!
Volunteers are needed to help distribute the supplies
when they arrive.
- Market Day
- Offered each month, you can purchase food through the Market Day program,
which returns a percentage of sales to the school. Volunteers
are needed to help fill and distribute the orders.
- Taffy Apple, Garbage Bag and Wrapping Paper Sales
- Order forms will arrive hom in your child(ren)'s folders when these
annual events take place. Volunteers are needed to help
distribute the orders.
- Grandparents' Mass and Reception
- A chair/co-chair volunteer (any grade) is needed to run this event.
We invite the family members back to the activity center
after they attend mass and visit their grandchildren's
classrooms.
- Barnes & Noble Book Fair
- Located at the B&N store in Skokie (Village Crossing), the store donates
a percentage of the book sales from our school's purchases
for the day. Some of the Saint Juliana staff will read
to the kids throughout the day.
- Receptions:
- First Holy Communion
- Confirmation
- Graduation
- The grade behind the sacrament/graduation receipients is asked to
sponsor these events. After the event concludes in the
church, the families of the recipients are invited back
to the activity center for a reception. The reception
includes light snacks and beverages, and a photo display
for picture-taking.
- Promote communication between parents, children, school
and the parish at large. The Mothers' Club keeps school
parents informed about school news and activities through
monthly newsletters.
- Provide a variety of programs and social activities for
our school families, including Candlelight Bowl, the Halloween
Party and Family Fun Night.
