Welcome to Mrs. Doherty's 2nd Grade, Room 32!

Hello!  Welcome to 2nd grade!  My name is Liz Doherty and I am looking forward to working with your child this year.  We have an exciting year planned and we are already off and running!  I can be reached best through my email at, ldoherty@stjuliana.org.  I check emails during school hours when possible.  You can also write a note in your child’s folder.  We're going to have a great year together!

Thursday's Homework

Just a reminder, the Backpack Page is coming home today to begin studying for next week's spelling test.  It is another week of challenging words. 
 

*Friday, February 13th - 11:30 Dismissal. Wear Valentine colors.  We will be having our class Valentine’s Party. If you would like to bring in any Valentines, there are 20 students in the class and please don’t address them. You can put your name on them if you’d like. Thank you to our Room Moms, Mrs. Hagerty and Mrs. Stanton!

Two Tests Next Week

*Backpack Page 10 went home today to start studying for the Spelling test next Thursday, 2/5.  There is no school for students on Friday, 2/6. These words are a bit tricky, so starting early with extra practice will really help!

*The Timed-Test is coming home.  The following will be the routine when timed-tests come home: if you received an 84% or below, please sign and correct/complete and return the test. Keep the test if it’s higher than 85%.  The goal is to see progress with the next test. So, if you received a 71%, then the goal is to get 72% or higher.

 

Here are two more links to websites that give you different worksheets to practice with. They look very similar to the ones we take in class.  I like this site because you can print out different versions of a worksheet.  If you are noticing that your child struggles with certain numbers, you can choose one of those worksheets to target those areas.  (ex. maybe your child is struggling with the 9's There are worksheets that only have math problems with the number 9.  9+1= ___, 3+9=___, 9+6= ___, etc.)  When you put your cursor on the worksheet, a black highlighted "Select a Worksheet" will pop up at the bottom.  That will mix up those same math problems on that page.  Scroll further down and there is a "Mixed" worksheet to focus on all numbers.
