Bookfair Preview Day: Friday, January 27 – 8:00am-3:30pm: Children will view the books during school and make a wish list to share with their parents.
 
Bookfair Family Day: Sunday, January 29 – 10:00am-1:00pm: Come as a family to view and shop books after 9:30am mass during the SJS Catholic Schools Week Open House.
 
Bookfair Sales: Monday, January 30 – 8:00am-3:30pm: Children can shop the fair during school or directly after.

There's no school tomorrow!!
 
Tire out the kids at Altitude Trampoline Park in Skokie, who is donating back a percentage of sales on regular priced jump packages. Only jump packages purchased in person go towards the fundraiser, so please pay for your jump package when you get there. Altitude opens at 10 am and closes at 8 pm.
 
When you're done burning off some energy, visit Moretti's in Edison Park to refuel at our restaurant give back day. Moretti's opens at 11 am and closes at 9 pm.
 
Make sure to mention you're with the St Juliana School Fundraiser when you order at both locations.

Mothers' Club and Men's Club are proudly co-sponsoring the refreshments at the Living Nativity on December 22nd. The Living Nativity will go from 6-8:00, with the story being told at 6:30 and again at 7:15.
 
We need helpers to pass out drinks and cookies! If you have older students, this is a perfect opportunity to volunteer for 30 minutes as a family 💚

Over 160 kids were able to make crafts and shop for their families on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this day a success - in particular, Beth Soreng, Joan Lynch, and Katie Schayer for leading the event. We know it was a TON of work to bring this all together. Thank you!!
Don't forget to pick up your Christmas decorations between 9 and 11 am this Saturday, December 3rd in the gym. Enter via the Ahearn Center doors. 
 
If you can't make it anymore, please send someone else to pick up your items for you. If that isn't feasible please email us as soon as possible at mothers[email protected]. We can send the ornament home with your child, but will need to arrange alternate pick up for your greenery items.
This year Christmas craft will be on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 - 12:30.
 
Not familiar with Christmas Craft? Each grade makes a holiday themed project, and sometimes one or two smaller projects depending on the time and difficulty of the main project. During the time at school the children will also have time to visit the Santa Workshop in the school hall where they can purchase holiday gifts for family members. 
 
Preschool will be set up a little differently.  There will be different drop in times for the child and parent to come in to complete the project and shop. 
 
Registration forms came home in your child's folder. Please return them with your payment by Thursday, December 1st. If you misplaced your form you can access a copy by clicking on "Links" (to the right of this post) and then selecting "Events" in the drop down at the top.
 
Also - we are still looking for grade level leads for Preschool - 6th grade. Let us know if you are interested in getting your creative juices flowing and leading the grade, or if you are able to help out in your child's class by filling in this form: https://forms.gle/qqdChoRQQWfGCWCs9
Out of uniform passes will come home with your youngest child the week of November 28th. Keep an eye out for a plain white envelope - don't throw it away!
 
With your help we raised a little over $1,300 from the cookie walk!!! And we brought a lot of joy to the attendees who were thrilled to see it "back to normal." Thank you!!
From 5:00 - 8:00pm visit the Portillos at 8832 W Dempster St in Niles. This location is giving back 20% of sales to SJS. You'll do enough cooking later this week for Thanksgiving - give yourself a break (and a cake shake)!

Holiday season is upon us! There is a LOT happening over the next three days, so we wanted to send a little recap, so you don’t miss out on anything…
 
TONIGHT is the Mothers’ Club Members Only uniform exchange from 7 - 8 pm in the school hall. The Mothers’ Club meeting will occur right after. During the meeting (starting at 8 pm) you can:
  • Pick up your SJS Christmas ornament (if you already ordered one)
  • Register your child for the Christmas Craft on December 10th – cash or check only! Either bring in the completed registration form or we’ll have them there.
  • Buy an SJS Yeti (cash, check, or we can give you a special GiveCentral link in person)
 
You don’t have to stay for the meeting to attend the uniform exchange, but you do have to be a Mothers’ Club member to attend the exchange. You can pay your dues in advance at http://givecentral.org/mc or at the door (cash or check only).
 
Cookie Walk cookie donations can be dropped off during either of these windows:
 
  • Tomorrow, Friday, from 8:10 am – 9 am via Door 1. Volunteers will be there to help you. Please wait to enter the school until all of the kids have finished arriving for the school day.
  • Saturday from 7 am to 9 am via the Ahearn Center main doors. If you arrive after 9 you can pass them to a volunteer at the admission table if you don’t want to pay to enter the craft fair.
 
If you still have the cookie drop off form that we sent home, please bring it with you so we know who to give out of uniform passes to next week. If you lost it, don’t worry, we will have printed copies there. 
 
When you bring the cookies, please label each tray/container with the cookie type and do not mix different types of cookies into the same container. You don’t have to individually wrap the cookies like last year.
 
SquareOne Art orders must be submitted online by the end of the day Friday (tomorrow!). Go to https://shop.square1art.com/ and enter your child’s code to order. The code is on the packet that came home last Friday. If you have any questions please reach out to Beth Soreng.
 
The Craft Fair and Cookie Walk is this Saturday from 9 to 3 in the gym. There are a lot of local families who are participating as vendors, including several SJS moms and even some students, so come support them and get a jump start on your holiday shopping! After all of these events you’ll probably want to relax! Head to Coach’s on Sunday at noon for the 8th grade fundraiser.  Watch the Bears vs. Falcons while enjoying a cash bar and raffle fun. Appetizers will be provided, $25 suggested donation at the door. Funds raised go towards end of the year activities.

Square1 Art came home on Friday and it's a quick turnaround for ordering!  Order online by this Friday, November 18th.

Your child's art code is on the back of the packet you got. If you aren't into more coffee mugs, here are some ideas from fellow SJS moms:
  • Get a sketchbook for your child with their art on the front and gift it at Christmas to keep more artwork coming!
  • A pack of 6 magnets - split them up and give them to grandparents or aunts and uncles for stocking stuffers.
  • If you do an annual Christmas ornament, get one with their artwork on it. It becomes a nice series of ornaments you can give them when they're older.
  • Decorate their room or the toy room with a customized wall decal.

Thank you to the parents and students who made the Fall Book Fair a success!  We sold over 1,000 books!!  We were able to raise $4,838.05 in Scholastic Dollars that will benefit your child directly and be put right back into their classroom.  This money will aid the teachers to buy books, resources and supplies for their classroom and the library.
 
A huge thank you to Aniko Shuey for leading this event! We’d also like to thank the principal, teachers, office staff, and dozens of volunteers that made this possible.  They took the extra time and effort to ensure the fair went smoothly.  We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful SJS community.
Skip cooking tonight and eat at Nonno Pino's! All dine-in and take-away orders that mention our fundraiser will have 20% donated back to the school.

The Scholastic Book Fair starts this week with a preview day on Tuesday. 🎉 Your teacher will let you know which day they'll return to shop.

Countryside Garden Center, our partner for the fall mum fundraiser, is back with poinsettias, wreaths, garland, and holiday planters.
 
We're also excited to offer SJS 2022 Christmas ornaments, made by a fellow SJS mom. These are wood and come in two styles for the tree hook - ribbon or beads.
 
Both are donating a percentage of sales to the school.
 
Orders and payment are due November 11th. Return the order form with payment to the school office in an envelope labeled "Mothers' Club Christmas Fundraiser." Order pick up is December 3rd from 9 am to 11 am in the gym.

Important details to note:

  • Cookie walk cookie donation forms will come home next week. 
  • The Christmas Craft on December 10th is a kid activity, for anyone unfamiliar. More details are coming soon!
  • The November Uniform Exchange and Mothers' Club Christmas Party are for Mothers' Club members only. Just like our normal monthly meetings, if you'd like to attend and haven't paid your annual dues, you can do so online at http://givecentral.org/mc to save yourself time at check-in!
