Welcome to St. Juliana Art Class!

Art Class Clip Art
My name is Mrs. Herion and I teach art to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. This year marks my 14th year teaching Art at St. Juliana. In addition, I have substitute taught at SJS for over 20 years.
I always look forward to seeing all of the returning students and families, as well as all of our new students and families.

All students have art once a week for 30-45 minutes depending on grade level. I teach the basics of art which include the Elements of Art, the Principles of Art, as well as introduction to famous artists and art history. Seasonal projects are also included. Students in grades 2-8 will create Art Portfolios to hold their artwork from throughout the school year. Portfolios are sent home at the end of the school year. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will bring artwork home as it is completed. Student artwork is also displayed in school throughout the year.

Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will receive grades in Art class. Grades will show on report cards as an
+, S, or -.
Students receive a daily behavior grade and a project grade for all projects, which are based on the following criteria:

As always, all students will need an old t-shirt with their name on it to use as a smock. Any old, slightly large shirt works best. Smocks will be stored in each students homeroom.
