Description: The St Juliana Religious Education Program offers catholic religious education for children in grades 1-8 who do not attend a Catholic school. The program prepares children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in second grade. Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year program in 7th and 8th grades. Children and families should commit to religious education from first through eighth grades.

Each year Religious Ed classes meet on Wednesdays in September through May from 6:15-7:30pm in the Saint Juliana School. There is also a small Family At-Home RE option where parents use given materials to work with their children at home to pass on our catholic faith. This Family RE program meets once a month. The Family RE program has limited openings. Registration is online and open from May through August.

St. Juliana is moving to 8th Grade Confirmation!

Our Saint Juliana School and Religious Education programs are transitioning from 7th grade Confirmation to 8th grade Confirmation. The first class who will receive Confirmation in 8th grade will be our current 6th grade students (class of 2028). In 2027, St Juliana will not have a Confirmation. The class of 2028 will begin preparing for Confirmation in 7th grade (26-27 school year) and receive Confirmation in late February or early March of 2028. Confirmation is a two-year preparation.

Please note that sacrament preparation is a process. Attendance for second year of RE/CCD is required to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion in second year, and attendance for both seventh and eighth years is required to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Additional fees for sacramental preparation can be paid beginning in January through GiveCentral or with a check paid out to Saint Juliana. Parent meetings for second year and eighth year are held in January.

2026-2027 Religious Education Calendar

2026-27 RE calendar

Last night the Saint Juliana religious education program held a potluck and supply pick-up gathering to kick off the new RE year. Families enjoyed meeting their teachers, seeing their class lists, and socializing before RE classes begin next Wednesday, September 20th. A HUGE thank you to the catechists and Father John who helped pass out the books and folders.

In honor of October, the Month of the Rosary, our Saint Juliana religious education classes learned about the importance of the rosary and joined together with the entire RE school to pray a decade of the rosary. A special thanks to our seventh-year confirmation students and catechists for leading our prayers and also to Father Prasad for joining us.

Our RE supply pick up and potluck celebration was a huge success! Our families met our catechists, saw their class lists, and received their books. The best part was everyone sharing the delicious food they brought and socializing with our Saint Juliana RE family. Thank you to all of the families and catechists who were able to come out. RE classes began on September 18th with more than 120 families represented.

Eighty-six confirmation candidates from our Saint Juliana School and religious ed programs and a small group from Saint Benedict’s Parish attended our confirmation retreat. The retreat was led by the sisters at the Mission Our Lady of Angels. The candidates listened to talks, testimonials, and guided meditation, and they participated in small group discussions, adoration, and reflection. Thanks to all of our catechists and parent volunteers who helped out at this retreat. Please pray for our confirmation candidates that they may open their hearts to the Holy Spirit and God’s love.

Our Religious Ed fifth year students presented the Passion of the Lord for our RE classes and families. They have worked hard over the last month preparing posters depicting each station and practicing reading. The presentation included explanations of each station, Bishop John reading from Jesus’ point of view, and child- and family-centered reflections. A special thank you to Mr. Pecho for leading this important Lenten reflection. Great job!
