Change of Confirmation to 8th Grade

Our St. Juliana School and Religious Education programs are transitioning from 7th grade Confirmation to 8th grade Confirmation. The first class who will receive Confirmation in 8th grade will be our current 5th grade students (class of 2028), those who will become 6th graders in the fall of 2025. Our current 6th graders, who will be 7th graders in the fall of 2025 will still be confirmed in 7th grade, on May 1, 2026. In 2027, we will not have a Confirmation. The class of 2028 will begin preparing for Confirmation in 7th grade (26-27 school year) and receive Confirmation in late February or early March of 2028. Confirmation is a two-year preparation.

Confirmation

Tomorrow is the big day. Your sons and daughters have done a great job and are ready to receive the Holy Spirit tomorrow evening.
Just a few last minute details:
Each child has an assigned pew that will comfortably seat 5 or 6 people (two of whom are your child and his/her sponsor.) If you have more people coming there will be available seating.
Each assigned pew will have 2 Confirmation booklets (child and sponsor) and an index card with last name. There will also be a seating chart available in back of church.
Each child should be seated with his/her sponsor by 6:45. Your child should have their gown on with their name ribbon pinned on the left side. Boys, remember to wear a dress shirt and tie under your gown.
There will be Confirmation booklets available in the back of church.
Bishop John will stay after Mass if anyone would like a picture with him.
I think that's about it.
Like I said, your children have done a great job with the program and they have been a pleasure to work with. I am very proud of them and look forward to having them next year as 8th graders.
See you tomorrow night.
Thank you.

Confirmation banners and seating information

If your  child is making a banner or using a family banner (it is optional), I need to have them by Friday at the latest. I cannot accept any after that. Confirmation is on the next Tuesday and I will need to hang any banners that are turned in on Sunday afternoon after Masses are over. Thanks for your help with this.
Your children have done a wonderful job preparing for Confirmation the last few months. They have been great with service and in class. Tuesday, May 6th will be a wonderful day for our 7th graders.
Each child will be assigned a pew for Confirmation. Pews were assigned by lottery except for the pews that were "purchased" at last year's Gala or other events. When I practice with the students on this Thursday, they will know where their pew is. Pews will also be labeled for the evening of Confirmation. A few parents have asked how many people may attend. You can have as many people as you want. Your family pew will comfortably hold 5 or 6 people (two of whom are your child and his/her sponsor) There will be additional seating in other areas of the church if you have more than 5 or 6 people.
Thank you for all of your help.

Have a great weekend.

8th Grade Reminders

If you haven't paid the graduation bill yet, please send it with your child by April 29th, Thank you.

Maycrowning is on Thursday, May 1st at 1:00 in church. Students need to bring their graduation gown with them to school on Thursday. Boys must wear a dress shirt and tie. If girls want to change shoes for the ceremony in church they are welcome to bring a change of shoes. The ceremony itself is no longer than a half hour. 8th graders will stay after the ceremony if anyone wants to take pictures either outside or back in church. Hoping for good weather.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Big Night Out

Big Night Out is here!! It is this Saturday April 12th! Tickets are still available online or at the door. Even if you cannot attend, please check out the website. The AUCTION is LIVE and there are lots of great items.  All proceeds from the event go back to the school community!!!!

Thank you for your support!

8th Grade Parents

Good morning.
Just a reminder that the permission slips for the 8th grade activities are due on Monday, the 14th. The packets were sent home last week. Payment for the activities is not due on Monday but the permission slips are.
Thanks for your help with this.

8th Grade Information

Your 8th grader will be bringing home a packet today. All of the information regarding 8th grade activities and fees is included in this packet. There are many permission slips that need to be returned to the homeroom teacher. These must be turned in by April 14th. The graduation fee can either be turned in when you return the permission slips or anytime by April 29th.
Thank you and have a great weekend.

Living Stations

A group of our 8th graders will be presenting the Living Stations of the Cross tomorrow (Friday, April 4) at 2:00 and 6:00. They have worked very hard and given up much of their time to do this. You are welcome to attend either "performance" tomorrow. I am very proud of them and I know that they will do a great job!!!!

Graduation pictures orders

There seems to be some confusion about ordering graduation pictures. Every 8th grader was given an order form on the day of the pictures. There is all the information about how to order included on that form. Please ask your son or daughter for the form. We do have a few extras (but not many) but your son or daughter did receive the form on the day of the pictures.
Thanks so much.

Remember to set clocks ahead Saturday night so you're not late for the spon

Good morning. Just a reminder to set your clocks ahead on Saturday night so that you're not late for the Confirmation sponsor Mass at 9:30 on Sunday. Make sure to have your name ribbon pinned on your left side. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday morning.
Thank you

7th Grade Shadow Days

There have been some questions about 7th graders and shadowing at the high schools and hopefully this post will help.
We schedule shadow days in the Fall for the 8th graders to shadow at Regina, Resurrection, Notre Dame, St. Pat's and Loyola. These are specific days that are for our 8th graders to attend. If your child shadows on these days in the Fall, it is not recorded as an absence from school. We will notify parents and students about these days early next school year.
Some students do like to shadow in the spring of 7th grade and that is fine. If your child wants to shadow in 7th grade, parents schedule that with the high school. Students are marked absent that day and are responsible for any school work that they missed.
We have a few favors to ask if your child is going to shadow in 7th grade. Please let us know that they will be shadowing on a specific day. If a large number of the students are going on the same day to shadow, we need to know that so we know how to plan for the day (tests, etc..) Please call your child in that day like you do if they are sick.
There was a question about being able to attend after school activities if they shadow that day. We don't see a problem with that--it's not like they're just taking a day off from school.
PLEASE do not schedule a shadow day for your child the week before and the day before Confirmation. This year that week would be the week after spring break and that Monday and Tuesday. I really need the kids to be in school those days. Please schedule your student's shadow day before spring break or after May 6th (Confirmation day).
We hope that this clears up any questions or confusion about 7th grade shadowing. We are fine with the shadowing--please just let us know.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you so much.

Confirmation sponsor Mass this Sunday

This Sunday (March 9) at the 9:30 Mass we will have the Confirmation sponsor Mass for the 7th graders. If a sponsor is not able to attend, that's fine. A parent or other family member or friend can go up with the student to receive a blessing. Students must wear their name ribbon for this Mass. Please have the name ribbon pinned on the left side. I've given directions to the children for this Mass.
If you and your child are not able to attend, please send an email to me to let me know.

Thursday--Graduation pictures

Just a reminder that graduation pictures will be taken on Thursday. Students need to bring their cap, gown, and tassel. Boys must wear a dress shirt and tie. After cap and gown pictures are taken, pictures will be taken in their dress clothes. When all individual pictures have been taken, a group picture of the 8th grade class will be taken. Make sure to bring your Class of 2025 sweatshirt for this picture.

Graduation PIctures--Thursday, March 6

Graduation pictures will be taken next Thursday, May 6th. Students need to bring their cap, gown and tassel to school that morning. Please have your child "mark" their gown so that there are no mix-ups!!! The gowns all look the same when 22 of them are hanging in our rooms!!! Boys must wear a dress shirt and tie. Boys, please come to school with your tie already tied. Girls should not wear sweaters or dresses with a turtle neck, etc.. The photographers will be taking pictures of each student in cap and gown and in dress or casual clothes. The photographers will post the proofs online shortly after picture day and ordering can be done after that. More information will follow about that. When all of the 8th graders have had their individual pictures taken, a class photo of the students wearing their Class of 2025 sweatshirts will be taken. That picture can be ordered on the order form for the pictures.
Thank you.
